Greenwich Village Apartment

This couple bought their apartment a couple of years ago and were ready to revamp it, but had a newborn, so they needed the process to be easy and the furniture to be baby friendly. We started with a few existing pieces – a very cool live edge dining table and chairs, a gorgeous deep red rug from their time living in India, and a wall of bookcases. While the living room and dining room are open to one another, the existing decor didn’t have a natural flow. By adding a dramatic accent papered wall in the dining room, we enabled the room to stand tall against the bold and colorful (yet child friendly) fabrics we chose for the living room.

Simultaneously, the couple thought the existing corner book case felt like a dark hole in that side of the room, yet they really liked the shape and amount of storage it provided. Instead of purchasing a new one, we updated the original by adding vinyl wallpaper (wipeable for little dirty hands) to both the front of the doors and back of the cases to lighten it up and added antique brass hardware to match all the fixtures.
